Four Fifths (wood print | blue and yellow on a pink and purple background)I love sugar skulls. My idea for this drawing also inspired my idea for this entire series of drawings and a new direction for my art. I wanted to draw a detailed sugar skull and decided I wanted a sort of sun burst background but I wanted it to have a pattern texture to it. So I added a kind of antique wallpaper pattern to a sunburst of melaleuca tree bark. Made perfect sense to me. This is also the first piece that I colorized. It was too much fun

I once read of an ancient myth that the earth was formed on the back of a turtle traveling through the cosmos

It was for a team project thing and they were called the Argonauts

I researched Seminole Indian patterns and found out that their patterns often depicted animals

The moment that it’s too late

So I decided to make this piece a distinctly Florida turtle

They were happy with the logo I ended up giving them but I really liked my octopus version

A bear so full of rage he starts a meta-physical storm with fire and lightning like storm clouds over an active volcano

The team didn't like it and wanted something with greek soldiers on a ship
