Artist and designer Carolyn Cabena is attracted to the uniqueness of the Australian native flowers and her sketches are translated onto hand drawn printing screens. To make her original range of jackets, shawls and scarves these screens are printed with a resist onto natural silk velvet and then dyed in

5 cm centre back length x 61 cm across back width (edge to edge) x 73

Black and clear gutta (wax resist) is then drawn on and painted using various watercolour techniques

Dyeing the fabric in navy as a darker option to its double shaded blue-green colour was a bit tricky for me as I didn't know if it would be green or blue with navy after dyeing

Soft and comfy

making it fast to light and washing

This scarf is naturally hand dyed with madder root and printed with Oxalis leaves and stems from my garden
